Upgrading Wings

How to upgrade the Wings daemon binary safely with zero downtime for running game servers.

Upgrading Wings is quick and simple. Because game servers run inside decoupled Docker containers, restarting Wings does not stop or interrupt running games.

1. Check Current Version

wings --version

2. Download Latest Wings Binary

Download the latest compiled executable from GitHub releases:

Download latest Wings release
curl -L -o /usr/local/bin/wings "https://github.com/pterodactyl/wings/releases/latest/download/wings_linux_amd64"
sudo chmod u+x /usr/local/bin/wings
For ARM64 platforms, use wings_linux_arm64.

3. Restart the Service

Restart the background systemd service:

Restart Wings
sudo systemctl restart wings

4. Verify Upgrade

Check that the new binary is loaded and communicating with the panel:

Check service status
sudo systemctl status wings

View the latest startup logs:

View live logs
journalctl -u wings -n 50 --no-pager

Your game servers will continue running normally, and the Aquadactyl Panel node indicator will remain green.
